Real Food. Real Good.

Welcome to my little space on the net. It's that time of year when you decide to give something up or take on a new challenge. I've never really been a believer in resolutions but I have been known to take on a new challenge. While I was cooking dinner tonight, it came to me. I decided I am going to record what I cook for dinner in 2012... ok, blogging every dinner is way, way more work than I thought. The plan now is to blog about once a week...or when we get a great idea for a great meal... and I would guess that my lovely wife will be doing more of the actual writing than I will ("hells yah"said the aforementioned wife who has hijacked this blog.) Cooking is a passion of mine and I have been looking for a project to get me back into writing. This blog should fit the bill.

So every time I cook a delicious, healthy (ie anything that you cook yourself is way better health wise than what you can purchase to "cook" in a microwave or purchase in a drive-through)  meal that I think is worthy, I'll record it here, provide a recipe and picture for it. We will try to go back to the cooking basics as much as we can. Heck, we will even chop our own vegetables (gasp) and will (mostly) make our own stocks. We will also try to source our products as locally as is feasible (thank you Thatcher Farms for your lovely local and delicious meats...they make us very full and happy.) I'm not a fanatic about healthy eating but I do try and watch what I put in my body most times. I used to weigh a lot more than I do now and really do not want to have the pounds back.

I hope you enjoy and welcome to Bistro 164. And yes, we do enjoy the occasional glass (or so) of wine... it helps us to become more "artistic" in a good way.

Cheers!

Darrell and Sus
