#shrimplove Blog post #2. Yes I'm in love with shrimp. Just super easy and quick. And absolutely perfect for hot humid weather. Sweet and Spicy. Kind of like me. Yah ok. Big stretch there. I got onto this whole sweet and spicy wagon a few years ago. Love my Baharat, Harissa, Ras-el-Hanout. Paired with shrimp it's absolutely amazing. The other thing I love? Sharing lovely meals. Of course it's not a new thing to share a meal with a loved one, in my case, my husband. What's new for us is sharing with other family members such as my sister and brother in law. This whole COVID thing had kiboshed family get togethers. I was a front line worker, working in very close contact with my co-workers and just not willing to put the lives of my family and friends in jeopardy. So my husband and I made a sacrifice. Just not worth the risk for our loved ones. We cancelled Family Christmas get togethers, Easter, Thanksgiving, Birthdays for the last 2 years. It also explains our exodus from Ontario to Cape Breton. So now while we await moving in to our new home, we live with my sister and her husband in their lovely home by the ocean in Cheticamp Cape Breton. We share the task of cooking meals. A novel experience for all of us. And I think I may miss this when we move to our new place only 15 minutes away. In fact I know I will. Creating meals, sharing meals, sharing ideas, having great discussions, connecting, having lots of laughs. It's been an experience at 50 years of age. My sister and I are 12 years apart (you do the math lol.) When she left for College I was 5 years old. We missed a lot due to our age difference but I think we've made up for it. We are eerily similar despite the whole age thing. I think it scares our husbands quite honestly. It's never too late to reconnect, change things up, discover life, live life. A little difficult for most of us to do now because of COVID...which is why we all need to be diligent, get vaccinated, social distance, wear a mask....so that we can all get together again soon.
Stay safe. Do your civic duty to protect others in your community. Realize that it's not all about you and your "freedom" to be unvaccinated and not wear a mask. Stay healthy, both physically and mentally. Be kind. Be patient. Be a decent human being. Yes it's been a long haul but we'll get there and come through the other side stronger than ever. Cheers from Bistro 164!
Another lovely creation that we shared, thanks sous chef! |
